Description
Rosehip – Rosa canina in ancient times was used for medicinal purposes. According to mythology, rhododendron was originally white. He was dyed red with the blood of Aphrodite, when he went with bare feet to save Adonis from the hands of Ares and stepped on the thorny wheel which he dyed with blood. Its name is due to the fact that during Roman times the herb was recommended for the bites of rabid dogs. Its root acted against the hydrophobicity caused by the rabies virus and thus brought about the cure. In 77 AD the Roman philosopher Pliny recommended rosehip to his patients as a laxative and diuretic. It has been proven that over 30 diseases can be effectively treated with rosehip oil. In the Middle Ages rosehip was used for cardiovascular diseases and in the treatment of arthritis. Many medieval texts write about the rejuvenating properties of rose.
